To better prepare future nonprofit professionals, American Humanics has established competency requirements to serve as a framework for college curriculums. Among the nation’s colleges and universities offering such course work is Lakeland College.

Through curricular and co-curricular programs in nonprofit management offered at Lakeland College, students planning careers in the nonprofit sector, particularly in family and youth service organizations, will benefit from completing requirements for the nationally recognized American Humanics Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership.

• NPO 360 Fiscal Management and Budgeting for Nonprofits
• NPO 365 Fundraising
• NPO 410 Internship in Nonprofit Management (4 sem. hrs.)
• NPO 460 Senior Internship (4 semester hours)
• NPO 473 Strategic Planning for Nonprofits (writing intensive)

• SOC 220 Social Psychology

• SOC 335 Research Methods for the Behavioral Sciences (4 sem. hrs)

Co-curricular requirements:
• Must be active participants in the American Humanics Student Association (AHSA)
• Must attend a national American Humanics Management Conference
