Lakeland College Ley Chapel

Lakeland College offers an accredited graduate program in theology leading to the degree of Master of Arts (M.A.) in Theology. The program is designed to provide a basis of continuing education towards a M.Div. or a Ph.D., or to become the theological core of a comprehensive training program leading to various forms of "associate ministry." Lakeland has made an agreement with University of Dubuque Theological Seminary whereby they will accept the 36 hours credit from our program toward their M.Div. degree.

Courses in the program include:

  • Understandings of Christian Theology
  • Old Testament Interpretation: The Law and the Prophets
  • New Testament Interpretation: The Life and Message of Jesus
  • Visions of the Realm of God: Readings In Modern and Contemporary Theology
  • Seminar in Christian Ethics
  • Seminar in Christian Worship
  • The History of Christian Thought: From the Council of Jerusalem to the Council of Constance
  • The History of Christian Thought: From the Reformation to the Modern Age

as well as several tutorials of the student's choosing, and a master's thesis. There is an optional internship available for students interested in professional Christian service.
